David Dixon received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Tennessee
with a focus in Communication Design and Illustration. Prior to joining the ETSU Art &
Design faculty in 1989, David worked as art director and graphic designer for an Atlanta
advertising agency, and as designer and illustrator for North American Philips.
His freelance designs and illustrations have appeared on book covers and in magazines,
and his digital computer art, airbrush paintings, and drawings have been exhibited
in venues such as the National Computer Art Invitational Exhibition at Eastern Washington University, the Red Clay Survey at the Huntsville Museum of Art, and The Los Angeles Center
for Digital Art (LACDA). His poster designs are included in the University and College Design Association (UCDA) archives.
His personal work has been published most recently in Creative Quarterly, winning awards in issues
CQ 44, 48, 50, 51, 53, 59, and 61. His work was selected for Creative Quarterly's Top 100 of 2017.
